Project Description

This apartment building’s parking structure’s concrete slab had for years been covered in asphalt, which allowed water and salts to attack the underlying concrete slab. First we removed the asphalt and repaired the partial depth and full depth concrete deterioration. To arrest corrosion of the embedded steel reinforcement, we installed a comprehensive cathodic protection system on the underside of the slab and then installed a vehicular urethane traffic system to the top side. In addition, we installed a pedestrian urethane coating system to exterior balconies. Design engineer was Matt Schneider of Martin/Martin Consulting Engineers. Repair costs: 255,000
